About The Position

The City of Nacogdoches is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to perform intermediate skilled trades work in the Water Utilities Division of Public Works. This role involves installing, maintaining, fabricating, repairing and performing preventative maintenance on all industrial equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, gear reducers and piping. Work will be performed at wastewater and water treatment facilities, as well as remote pump stations.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED
• Prior equipment maintenance experience (preferably in utility or industrial setting)
• Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL)

Responsibilities

• Maintaining, repairing and performing basic preventative maintenance on pumps, valves, gear reducers and associated equipment.
• Troubleshooting and repairing basic mechanical equipment and systems, including bearing/seal replacements, belt replacement and alignment and valve rebuilding.
• Repairing and replacing ductile iron, carbon steel and PVC pipe.
• Installing new equipment and ensuring proper function.
• Assisting operators, electricians and instrumentation maintenance personnel.
• Substantial record-keeping of work activities.
• May require on-call or call-back work.
