About The Position

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will support the PPG Springdale, PA Research Building. You will perform installation, repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on facility mechanical systems, lab equipment, utility systems, and general plant equipment. You will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical laboratory and research infrastructure in compliance with facility standards and safety procedures. This is a 1st shift position with option of 7am-3:30pm or 8am-4:30pm. Actual benefit offerings confirmed at the time of hire. Key Responsibilities Work with lab techs, engineers, operations, and office staff. Order parts, maintain inventories, and document work in CMMS. Maintain proper housekeeping and 6S standards. Safely operate a forklift. Use shop tools such as lathe, drill press, band saw, pipe threader, welding equipment. Use basic hand tools (wrenches, sockets, taps, hammers, screwdrivers). Wear required PPE including FRC and respirators. Perform basic rigging (chain falls, hoists, straps). Prioritize work based on deadlines. Maintain attendance and reliability. Assemble and disassemble piping systems. Troubleshoot plant utilities (steam, process systems, water, vacuum). Install, remove, and rebuild pumps and valves using manuals. Demonstrate professional computer literacy. Understand SOPs for R&D and DC operations. Familiarity with R&D and DC systems, equipment, and spare parts. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Mechanical aptitude and experience with industrial tools/equipment. Ability to read technical documents and mechanical drawings. Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varied conditions. 2+ years industrial, mechanical, or facility maintenance experience. Experience in R&D or laboratory environments. HVAC experience Electrical or instrumentation troubleshooting experience. Work Environment Research and pilot-scale laboratory environment. Exposure to chemicals, rotating equipment, utilities, and elevated work areas. Requirements
