About The Position

To repair basic plumbing, electrical and mechanical equipment. Install shelves and equipment as instructed. Build, construct and install walls, counters, cabinets, ceilings, etc., utilizing carpentry skills. Also performs painting, plastering, and wall covering repairs as needed to keep appearance in the LifeCenter at a high level at all times.

Requirements

  • CPR/AED Certification is offered and must be passed within 90 days of employment.
  • Illinois Driver’s License and one-year in maintenance or construction preferred.
  • Pool Operator certification will be obtained within the first year of employment.
  • Basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and knowledge of power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Complete general or specialized repairs and capital projects
  • Complete preventative maintenance
  • Complete special tasks as needed e.g. snow removal, furniture moving, landscaping
  • Repair leaking faucets, showers, sinks.
  • Repair faulty toilets and clogged pipes.
  • Install a variety of countertops, cabinets, shelves, brackets, holders, etc., utilizing appropriate installations techniques and products that demonstrate quality, skill and understanding of expected outcome.
  • According to established code or existing conditions, build walls and ceilings; develops areas for occupancy by persons or storage.
  • Remove/wrecks walls, ceilings, etc., for new installation or decoration of existing area.
  • Capable of performing basic electrical work.
  • Order, maintains inventory of stock supply items: stock is ordered on a weekly basis assuring availability, quantities ordered reflect an awareness to the value of the inventory.
  • Perform surface preparation: plastering sanding scraping, paints walls, ceilings, etc. following color schemes as set forth by the LifeCenter; repair and refinish woodwork and furniture, stripping, varnishing, and staining as appropriate.
  • Make use of floor coverings to ensure protection of floors furniture and walls.
  • Cleanup and removal of all materials from work site when completed; workmanship is conducted in a skillful way with consideration to noise, mess, and disturbances being a priority.
