Facilities is seeking a temporary Maintenance Mechanic to support the department in Center City Philadelphia. The Maintenance Mechanic makes periodic inspections of and maintains all equipment associated with supplying safety lighting, plumbing, heating and ventilation, air conditioning, control systems and any other system for which responsible. Schedule: Sunday to Thursday 7am-3pm

  • Make checks of all mechanical area equipment and log in same.
  • Handle maintenance calls from the main office.
  • Maintain records as required.
  • Combined responsibilities of testing and running of emergency generators along with the electricians
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the University.
  • Operate large centrifugal a/c and maintain air handling equipment.
  • Repair and overhaul all related pumps.
  • Repair and overhaul steam equipment such as regulators, pilot valves, bad piping, traps.
  • Maintain, repair and test sprinkler, standpipe, and other fire related systems.
  • Maintain and repair distribution systems involving vacuum, medical air, medical gas systems and air compressors.
  • Maintain and repair pneumatic equipment located in engine rooms, such as hot water converter, thermostats, induction units, sump pumps and all piping pertaining to the function of this equipment.
  • Minor electrical work, such as disconnecting leads on motors, resetting breakers, replacing lights, etc.
  • Cleaning and painting in mechanical areas.
  • Changing of air filters in all large air handling equipment.
  • Minor plumbing repairs, such as, repair of an existing plumbing fixture which includes valves, washers, “O” rings, etc.; clearance of stoppages; stoppage of leaks; condenser cleaning on chillers; cleaning and maintenance on water towers; and cleaning of air handling unit coils.
  • All general building and equipment maintenance.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping of all mechanical areas and lamping of same.
  • All food service equipment.
  • Observe sanitation, safety and housekeeping regulations.
  • Cooperates in department’s work improvement efforts.
  • Practices excellent customer service.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • High School or GED required.
  • Three (3) years - with technical school
  • Four (4) years - without technical school
  • Technical School preferred.
