About The Position

Ensures machinery and mechanical equipment operation by completing preventive maintenance requirements on presses, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. Assess the time needed to complete a task. Determine the dimensional changes in the parts requirements by inspecting and using the onsite Machine Shop. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. Fabricates repair parts if needed by using machine shop assistance. Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; informs Supervisor when removed from inventory. Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Maintains production and quality by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. Other duties as assigned. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • 2 - 3 years of experience as an industrial mechanic in a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with working on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical maintenance and repairs
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams

Nice To Haves

  • 2 or more years working experience in an industrial plant
  • 2-year degree in mechanical/electrical or related field
  • VFD knowledge and experience
  • Programmable Logic Controller knowledge and experience
  • Formal electrical safety knowledge and experience
  • Experience in operation of forklift, mobile crane, and/or other mobile equipment
  • Preventative maintenance scheduling experience
