About The Position

PGCMLS is looking for a skilled Maintenance Mechanic with commercial experience. This position is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and diagnosing a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment, keeping operations running smoothly. Location: 7414 Riverdale Road, New Carrollton, MD 20784 Schedule: 7am-3:30pm, Mon-Fri; Evening and on-call hours required, as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational school graduate preferred.
• Four years of experience working in commercial buildings or facilities.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and procedures.
• Experience with computerized building automation systems.
• Ability to operate machinery and power tools.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
• Able to work independently or in a team, and adapt to changing tasks.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Google Suite, email, and internet use.

Nice To Haves

• Universal CFC/EPA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Repair electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Handle plumbing, HVAC, and air compressor maintenance.
• Clean air conditioning and filtration units.
• Perform basic building tasks like snow removal and changing fluorescent lights.
• Be on call for emergency maintenance and electrical issues.
• Assist with furniture deliveries during library renovations.
• Order parts, track shipments, and follow up with vendors.
• Keep maintenance records for electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Coordinate safety inspections and ensure work follows library safety policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
