About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position is responsible for light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks, ensuring they are completed in a safe and professional manner. The role requires extra precautions when working in patient care areas, particularly keeping tools out of the reach of children. Depending on the facility size, additional duties may encompass the installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, to ensure an efficient and safe environment. It may also involve maintaining campus grounds, performing other outside maintenance duties, and general tasks such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Possess basic mechanical knowledge
  • Show competence in the use of hand tools, meters, measuring devices and gauges
  • Ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled
  • Understand written and verbal communications
  • Good written and oral communications skills
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Trade school or vocational school preferred
  • Minimum of two years experience in building systems preferred
  • Ability to work from blueprints, schematics and technical manuals helpful
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record may be required (depending on location)

Responsibilities

  • Perform light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks in a safe, professional manner
  • Take extra precautions when working in patient care areas and specifically keep tools out of the reach of children
  • Explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting
  • Function with safety, moral, and efficiency of the department in mind
  • Comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Perform installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, to ensure a safe and efficient environment (depending on facility size)
  • Maintain campus grounds and perform other outside maintenance duties (depending on facility size)
  • Perform general duties such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance (depending on facility size)
  • May require on-call duties as needed or as directed by the department
