About The Position

Consolidated Metals is a leading manufacturer of steel tubing products. Join our growing, entrepreneurial company as a Maintenance Mechanic at our Elkhart, IN plant. Successful candidate must be self-motivated and reliable, have good communication skills, work well in a team-based environment, and be drug free. Role requires a high level of mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues. Prior tube mill experience is highly desired. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for the safe repair and rebuild of tube mill production and cutting equipment to maximize quality and up-time.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work 8 to10 hour shifts, 4 to 6 days per week depending on demand
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, squat and kneel for long periods of time tending to machines.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. frequently.

  • Ability to communicate in English, use measuring and testing devices, hand and power tools, and basic math calculations

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of equipment in accordance with the defined safety procedures, including but not limited to LOTO procedures. Ensure that all guards and safety equipment are in place and operational before turning the equipment over to the operator.
  • Monitor, inspect and complete reports on equipment using manual and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Read and interpret information and specifications from blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings to repair equipment, machinery, physical structures and systems.
  • Properly use required hand tools, power tools, hoists cranes, measuring devices and testing equipment.
  • Initiate troubleshooting techniques to solve quality, process and mechanical problems.
  • Properly identify problems and potential problem areas with consistency and reliability. Seek supervisor for assistance where needed.
  • Perform all required mechanical tasks associated with breakdown maintenance, preventive maintenance and changeovers on production equipment.
  • Ensure all work areas are inspection and audit ready after the completion of each mechanical task.
  • Motivates and guides co-workers.
  • Reports all safety, quality, operational or output issues that require additional assistance or leadership.
  • Other mechanic related duties as assigned by management.
  • Proper use of all required PPE while working with associated equipment and material.
