About The Position

Gulf Marine Repair in Tampa, FL is seeking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic to perform maintenance and repairs on floating equipment., lifting equipment, over-the-road equipment, and miscellaneous shipyard equipment. As a maintenance mechanic, you will be required to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components. This is a 1st shift position. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on shipyard equipment including tugs, barges, cranes, forklifts, rigging equipment, chain falls, pickup trucks, mobile cranes, automobiles, portable pumps, generators, cable reels, and power units, ventilator blowers, and lighting equipment. You comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area. You also operate cranes, forklifts, air compressors, and trucks for repair purposes. You operate under strict quality, safety, environmental, and health regulations and policies. You enjoy working in a shipyard environment and find great satisfaction in your work.

Requirements

Must have own tools
Must be able to overhaul pumps, engines and valves, and dial-in pump motors
Must be able to overhaul gearboxes on valve actuators and capstans
Must have a valid driver's license
Strong communication skills
Mechanical aptitude
Flexible schedule to include working overtime and weekends when required

Nice To Haves

2+ years of experience in a shipyard environment (preferred)
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on shipyard equipment including tugs, barges, cranes, forklifts, rigging equipment, chain falls, pickup trucks, mobile cranes, automobiles, portable pumps, generators, cable reels, and power units, ventilator blowers, and lighting equipment.
