About The Position

Operating since 1987, Johnson Brothers of Indiana is one of the state’s largest distributors. The company began its operations in Michigan City and Fort Wayne as Indiana Wholesale Wine & Liquor. Today, our more than 200 team members provide our portfolio of world-class wines and spirits to retail stores, iconic restaurants, and world-class hotels throughout the Hoosier State. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for hands-on maintenance and repair of Crown material handling equipment and facility mechanical and electrical systems supporting our Indianapolis office and warehouse complex. This role requires a self-directed, experienced technician who can also support the Maintenance Manager as needed with daily operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance planning.

Requirements

  • Two-year technical associate degree in Mechanical Systems Operation or related field (preferred).
  • 5–7 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or warehouse environment.
  • Experience servicing and repairing Crown material handling equipment (or similar powered industrial equipment) is required.
  • Strong electrical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Building Automation Systems, Security, and Safety systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; self-directed and accountable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to interact professionally with employees, vendors, and visitors.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all MEPFS (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire, Security) systems function properly, meet applicable standards, and are repaired as needed.
  • Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Crown material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and related powered industrial vehicles.
  • Maintain, repair, and monitor conveyor systems to ensure safe and efficient warehouse operations.
  • Responsible for maintenance, repair, and monitoring of building heating and cooling systems.
  • Maintain and repair pumps and water circulation systems.
  • Develop, implement, and manage preventive, corrective, and operational maintenance programs.
  • Ensure completion of all required MEPFS inspections, testing, and certification compliance.
  • Oversee care and maintenance of building structures, grounds, and related systems.
  • Provide facility-wide technical, engineering, and project support as needed.
  • Respond to emergency situations, inclement weather events, and after-hours service calls as required.
  • Order equipment, parts, and materials necessary for repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely, professional manner.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and maintain accurate maintenance logs.
  • Communicate facility issues, risks, and system concerns to upper management.
