Job Description: The person hired for the position of Maintenance Mechanic will work at our Royersford, PA plant site. This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. The Impact You'll Make in this Role: As a Maintenance Mechanic you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, including PM system updates and scheduled checks (cranes, exhaust ventilators, eyewash stations, etc.). Provide production floor support and plan daily tasks based on production and PM requirements. Assist with equipment installation, relocation, and fabrication of wood/metal structures and custom shipping containers. Maintain tools, maintenance areas, and storage (coolant drums, shipping materials) in compliance with safety standards. Ensure required certifications and safety compliance (Hoist, PIV, electrical, confined space, working at heights). Respond to emergencies and site projects with flexible availability, including on-call, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required with 5 yrs experience in Maintenance Mechanic OR additional technical or post-secondary education preferred from an accredited institution. (completed and verified prior to start date)
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing, industrial, public, private, government, or military environment, and/or completion of a recognized technical training program
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and maintenance management systems (MMS/CMMS)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to operate manual machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders
  • Responsible for contractor oversight, coordination, and compliance
  • Proven experience working with HVAC systems
  • Possession of recognized electrical certification
  • Experience implementing Lean Six Sigma tools and 5S workplace organization practices
  • General understanding of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
  • Demonstrated hands-on technical skills in the maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment and related processes
  • Applicants who meet the basic qualifications above will be required to take and pass 3M elected testing as a part of the selection process
