About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for all equipment in production by servicing, adjusting, and maintaining. Responsibilities also include keeping documented PM schedules, changing machines over for daily production, adjusting machines to run efficiently, and rebuilding equipment on a yearly schedule. They will work closely with the production team to increase productivity and profitability within the manufacturing operation.

Requirements

  • Experience in a mechanical/electrical role at a manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies.
  • Previous experience/broad understanding of food quality systems and enforcement of quality/GMP rules and policies.
  • Understanding of budgeting/expense management and other financial practices preferred.
  • Basic computer skills: able to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point, and/or Access).
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Must be able to work weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to fill out work order sheets, identify correct parts and clearly communicate using verbal and written skills.
  • Basic knowledge of electricity, including 24v ac/dc, 120v, 240v and 480v systems.
  • Mechanical knowledge of basic machinery parts (bearings, cam followers, rods, rod ends, drives, etc.).
  • Able to demonstrate and practice proper Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
  • Correctly identify adjustment procedures.
  • Ability to complete and document PM’s.
  • Able to pass basic courses in Arc flash, LOTO, Forklift certification, electrical safety, confined space.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, driven.

Responsibilities

  • Safely clear all product jams
  • Demonstrate correct procedure of assigned machine adjustments.
  • Check for correct machine functions before placing machine in service.
  • Check products for major deficiencies (i.e., seals, print quality and overall complying to company standards)
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment and notify Lead or Supervisor of any deficiencies.
  • Understand and prevent potential safety hazards in work area.
  • Provide support for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility.
  • Work closely with quality personnel to review products for food safety and quality while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement.
  • Work closely with all members of the manufacturing team to ensure awareness of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for all employees.
  • Maintain and support a superior safety and housekeeping program, including all timely communication initiatives.
  • Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiency and enhance productivity.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the maintenance supervisor.
