About The Position

Mueller Company (Mueller Co.), the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, has an opening in our Albertville Alabama plant for a Maintenance Mechanic. The Maintenance Mechanical Technician is responsible for maintaining production and quality by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in relevant field.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of the maintenance and repair of complex hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of electronic devices including microprocessors, computers, PLC’s, variable frequency drives, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with Induction Furnaces, vibratory conveyors, shot blast equipment preferred.
  • CNC Machining, Robotics and RS 500 /5000 Logic.
  • Provide professional top tier maintenance service to all internal customers.
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to the PM process.
  • Demonstrate commitment to all plant safety practices and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate with other associates in a team-based environment.
  • Exercise good decision making and judgment skills and ability to work without direct leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in high volume manufacturing.
  • Completion of a technical training/apprentice program.
  • Minimum Five (5) years Industrial Maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical prints and troubleshoot.
  • Experience with foundry equipment, paint and machine shop equipment is desired.
  • Must have experience working with 120 and 480 voltage.
  • Specific knowledge and experience with PLC’s, LadderLogic, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical distribution, piping and welding.
  • Experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance, equipment installation, and repair and troubleshooting of large automated systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on CNC machines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
  • Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provide mechanical maintenance information by providing feedback to work orders, answering questions and requests.
  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
