About The Position

Clorox is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Tech for our Houston, TX facility. The Maintenance Technician is part of a team that has a variety of skills that allow them to maintain packaging equipment and some facility maintenance. The technician will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on packaging and facility related equipment in order to maintain the life of assets in good working order and to achieve production reliability at high OEEs.

Requirements

  • Industrial Maintenance work experience of at minimum of 4 years working prior experience.
  • Candidate can substitute with successful completion of a two (2) year college curricular in technical areas and/or vocational school certificates of completion in technical areas.
  • Troubleshooting skills of automated packaging line equipment.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use/read a multimeter.
  • Ability to perform the general physical requirements
  • Able to use and work off platforms such as mezzanines or various lifts.
  • Lift a 45lb case of bleach or a 40 lb. motor gear box combination.
  • Have the ability to climb stairs, ladders, and crossovers and work off those mediums including the ability to carry and position a ladder.
  • Ability to dawn and wear proper PPE which could include gloves, face shield, safety glasses, welding mask, aprons or lab coats.
  • Be able to reach up vertically to work on overhead conveyors or piping.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing industries preferred.
  • RSLogix, PLC & VFD knowledge and experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance will maintain packaging equipment and will do corrective and preventive maintenance on packaging equipment that may include troubleshooting and/or replacing parts such as bearings, clutches, gear boxes, motors, belts, HMIs, fuses, motor staters, I/O cards, etc.
  • Packaging equipment which consists of but not limited to palletizers, packers, cappers, conveyors, sorters, case erectors and more.
  • Maintenance mechanics are expected to troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment up to 480V. They do so with safety and quality as the foundation to their work.
  • Maintenance Mechanics will use millwright and basic electrical skills at the mechanic level.
  • Utilize computer/software skills and knowledge to troubleshoot equipment, create/edit work orders in SAP, communicate with Outlook emails and Microsoft Office Suite, track work time, look-up parts, etc.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills to respond appropriately to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrate ability to align with Clorox values in Safety, Quality, and the Environment and value of “Do The Right Thing”.
  • Demonstrate self-motivated work behavior requiring limited to no supervision.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand the operation and basic settings of packaging equipment to identify abnormalities and make repairs.
  • Ability to perform the following shop tasks.
  • Train and support new associates or production associates to improve maintenance and shop skills.
  • This position will have to qualify to a general mechanic skill level with growth opportunity in maintenance skills expected.
  • Maintenance Associates may also serve on Autonomous Maintenance teams and other plant teams to support the continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work a Monday through Friday schedule with ability to service call-in rotation.
  • Day shift but flexibility with hours to support projects and team.
