About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic (Seasonal) is responsible for safely performing all aspects of rolling stock and dragline maintenance mechanical repairs to mining equipment. This role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of heavy equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.

Requirements

  • Must possess knowledge of diesel engines, cooling systems, undercarriage, electrical systems, hydraulic components, drive trains, brake and air conditioning systems, as well as welding, cutting, air arcing, grinding, and understanding metal properties.
  • Must have an ability to read, understand and use electronic diagnostic tools, prints, and manuals.
  • Must possess a knowledge of mechanical maintenance such as engine transmission, drive train, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and air conditioning systems.
  • Must possess a skill in diagnosing malfunctions.
  • Must be able to work outside in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to work shift work and be eager to accept responsibility and challenges.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma/GED with vocational training or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance such as changing oil, greasing and replacing components on a scheduled basis.
  • Troubleshoot/diagnose heavy equipment malfunctions and replace parts, repair and rebuild as necessary.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools.
  • Read blueprints and follow service manuals and parts lists in setting up and performing repairs and rebuilds.
  • Utilize work orders and requisitions for ordering parts and maintenance of equipment cost records.
  • Advise when immediate shut-down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when continued operation will have no harmful effect.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Operate the equipment to diagnose problems and test operate after repair.
  • Operate light vehicles to travel throughout the mine site.
  • Maintain shop area in a safe and clean manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
