Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment and mechanisms, hoisting and rigging techniques, hoisting and rigging systems, and piping systems.
  • Prior experience in operating hand tools, and troubleshooting / repairing machines / equipment.
  • Some knowledge of carpentry is helpful.
  • Ability to read drawings and use mathematics as needed for a variety of measurements consistent with the trade.
  • Equivalent to 2-3 years trades training and 1-2 years’ experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the mechanical work necessary to install, inspect, maintain, overhaul, and repair facilities, engine assembly, and test support systems and equipment including construction, welding, and rigging.
  • Follow specific instructions and standard trade practices to obtain tools, material and equipment for carrying out work assignments on mechanical systems, control devices and related equipment.
  • Perform component installation, system maintenance and repair work as assigned and carry out preventive maintenance and service as required.
  • Assist others responsible for complex installation, overhaul and repair projects in preparing materials and operating equipment.
  • Perform similar duties throughout the facility within the scope and skill level of this job description.
  • Assist other trades working on joint projects where common skill crossover provides the opportunity for shared responsibilities and more effective use of available skills.
  • May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits and certifications within assigned area.
