About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic Level II works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor. The mechanic is primarily responsible for ensuring that production equipment is at maximum uptime and in good repair. Troubleshooting skills and a strong mechanical aptitude are essential for success. The expectation is the mechanic Level II will continue to grow in skills and abilities working closely with supervision and Level IV mechanics such that they are promotable to Level III when the opportunities arise.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated and verifiable maintenance skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Minimum of three years industrial maintenance experience.
  • Post high school education in industrial maintenance, electronics and hydraulics on PLC is a major plus.
  • MIG/ARC welding skills are a major plus.

  • Post high school education in maintenance related courses.

Responsibilities

  • Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately.
  • Maintain, test and repair plant equipment to include, but not limited to conveyors, motors, pumps, bearings, and valves.
  • Fabricate parts and production piping equipment as required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and lubrication on equipment per the P.M. schedule.
  • Record parts used and provide a brief description of the steps taken to complete the work order.
  • Submit written SROs for unscheduled work including unit identification and a brief description of repair.
  • Replace lights, starters, dryers, pumps, seals, gear boxes, shafts, augers and piping as required.
  • Train maintenance entry mechanics in basic lubrication and preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Alert Maintenance Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor to any non-standard condition or parts requirements.
  • Follow all safety rules and practices to include wearing all personal protective equipment.
  • Assist general contractors as directed with the installation of new or modified equipment.
  • Progress in skill levels, learn to repair utility systems and advance in ammonia systems knowledge and repair.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required.
