About The Position

This position is located at Pasquotank Correctional Institution. The Maintenance Mechanic IV position is responsible for performing preventative and routine corrective maintenance tasks at a correctional institution; ensuring that assigned systems, equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences: Knowledge of commercial/industrial maintenance Documented knowledge of journey level skills in at least 2 or more of these trades (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Kitchen Equipment) This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Applicants must pass a background check to be eligible for this job.

Requirements

• Knowledge of commercial/industrial maintenance
• Documented knowledge of journey level skills in at least 2 or more of these trades (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Kitchen Equipment)
• High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• performing preventative and routine corrective maintenance tasks at a correctional institution
• ensuring that assigned systems, equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner
• performing operating, trouble shooting, repair and maintenance on assigned systems and equipment
• supervising the work of semi-skilled, unskilled or skilled workers (including inmates) to assist in the completion of job assignments as assigned
