About The Position

This position is located at Pasquotank Correctional Institution. The Maintenance Mechanic IV position is responsible for performing preventative and routine corrective maintenance tasks at a correctional institution; ensuring that assigned systems, equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner. This position performs a variety of trades at the semi-skilled level and at least two mechanical trades or a combination mechanical and higher-level building trades performed fully at the journey level. This position performs operating, trouble shooting, repair and maintenance on assigned systems and equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner. This position performs operating, trouble shooting, repair and maintenance on assigned systems and equipment. This position supervises the work of semi-skilled, unskilled or skilled workers (including inmates) to assist in the completion of job assignments as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge of commercial/industrial maintenance
• Documented knowledge of journey level skills in at least 2 or more of these trades (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Kitchen Equipment)
• High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
