About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic III at Macy's is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on material handling equipment within the Distribution Center. Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years direct experience in maintenance.
• Commercial or industrial maintenance related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Resourceful self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in the use of computers and handheld technology.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with ARC and MIG welding equipment.
• Knowledge of battery-powered material handling equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on material handling equipment.
• Conduct daily systems inspections of mechanical and electrical components.
• Diagnose machine malfunctions and determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair material handling equipment, including sorters and conveyors.
• Utilize the computerized maintenance management system to monitor and document equipment usage and parts replacement.
• Dismantle machines to examine parts for defects and replace or repair defective parts.
• Assemble and test operate machines to verify correction of malfunctions.
• Perform preventative maintenance on facility systems including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical duties.
• Maintain a safe working environment and report safety concerns to management.
• Remove dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines.
