We are currently looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in Fort Smith, AR. Position Summary: The Maintenance Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment and systems. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical systems while supporting preventive maintenance programs and plant reliability initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or plant environment
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems including pumps, valves, piping, and steam systems
  • Experience with equipment disassembly, repair, and reassembly
  • Basic welding and flame cutting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, diagrams, and manuals
  • Knowledge of pipe fitting, installation, rigging, and materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, etc.)
  • Understanding of bolting, torquing, flanging, and gasketing processes
  • Ability to safely work at heights using appropriate fall protection equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work for extended periods
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and respond to call-ins as needed
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respiratory protection
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance systems and documentation
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cooling systems (cooling towers, chillers) and water heating systems preferred
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge preferred
  • Familiarity with gas analyzers and process instrumentation preferred
  • Experience in chemical or process manufacturing environments preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, corrective, and emergency maintenance on plant equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and complete timely repairs to minimize downtime
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities
  • Support plant turnarounds, shutdowns, and reliability improvement initiatives
  • Maintain and manage spare parts inventory levels
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, including OSHA regulations (Lockout/Tagout, hot work, etc.)
  • Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts safely
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to improve safety, quality, and productivity
  • Participate in required safety and technical training programs
