About The Position

Ensures smooth and efficient operation of the HVAC systems, keeping the RDU Airport Authority facilities running like a well-tuned aircraft. This role navigates through a variety of maintenance challenges, much like a skilled pilot adapting to changing conditions, ensuring the safe and reliable function of our public facility. Additionally, the Maintenance Mechanic plays a crucial role in weather-related operations, such as snow removal or hurricane preparedness, ensuring our 24/7 operation remains airborne without turbulence. This is a 2nd shift position, working from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday (with Sunday and Monday off).

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
2 or more years of experience in the HVAC trade
Valid NC Driver’s License
This position is considered Essential . This means this department and role are essential to operations and required to be on-site when there is an airport incident (emergency/weather).

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or Apprentice Program
4 or more years of experience in the HVAC trade
NC Registered Journeyman's Certificate
CDL class B License (or ability to obtain within 9 months)

Responsibilities

Assists with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining:
Direct expansion air conditioning units
A variety of pumps associated with HVAC, from 1 hp to 100 hp throughout the airport.
The airport's AHUs and ventilation systems
Boilers and hot water system
Chillers and chilled water system
Cooling towers
Variable frequency drives
Monitors and operates all RDU Building Management Systems
Maintains and assists with HVAC water treatment.
