About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic will be working with the Maintenance Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. This is a night shift position, working Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. The role involves performing general maintenance and repair of building mechanical systems and equipment common to a healthcare facility, as well as carrying out scheduled maintenance tasks and repairs as part of a coordinated PM program.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Basic familiarity with computers and ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Nice To Haves

• Basic plumbing knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides first response to equipment and system issues that are the responsibility of the mechanical section including plumbing, bulb replacement, and leak response.
• Provides first response to electrical and HVAC system issues while working on an off shift.
• Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment common to healthcare facility maintenance.
• Performs record keeping requirements and written reports as part of a daily routine.
• Required to respond to emergencies such as floods, power outages, etc. during off hours if asked to do so by the department supervisors.
• Participates in the snow removal process as required by the maintenance department.
