About The Position

Performs unscheduled interior and exterior building repairs, including but not limited to; carpentry and repairing or replacing plumbing, light bulbs, fixtures, air conditioning belts, filters, door and lock sets. Performs scheduled maintenance on buildings and equipment or assigned or scheduled by supervisor. Installs ceiling grids and preps and paints interior and exterior surfaces. Operates tools related to performance of specific assigned duties, including but not limited to power tools, drill press, circular saw, bench grinder, key cutting machine, wrenches and other hand tools. Initiates requests and is responsible for purchasing and maintaining an inventory of expendable parts and supplies in support of on-going maintenance activities. Assists supervisor in planning workloads, workflows, and proper time utilization. Completes all paperwork, mileage logs, work requests, etc. daily. Must also assist with all moves and provide updates daily to direct supervisor. Attends all staff meetings as required. When required, assists in relocation of staff, moving furniture and equipment. Performs other related duties as required and directed to perform various including the physical strength, dexterity, ability to stand and walk for long periods. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to squat, twist, bend, kneel, reach overhead before and while overseeing projects and assisting team. Perform physical task which may require moving, pushing, pulling, and lifting to climbing to physically count objects of varying weight. Moving/relocating furniture or other heavy equipment and materials at diverse sites. Moves items between departments manually or using floats, dollies and hand trucks. Sets up, arranges and removes tables and chairs for events such as awards ceremonies, etc. Also assist to mount items to walls, etc. which may include using a variety of hand and power tools. When required, assists with mowing lawn and trimming shrubbery, using mowers, hand and power trimmers and clear debris from grounds. Additionally, maintains the maintenance and upkeep of all lawn equipment. Sprays insecticides and fumigates as needed to prevent insect and rodent infestation. Pick-up debris at sites as needed. Also use electrical blower to remove all leaves, etc., in breezeway and areas surrounding sites. Able to drive a one (1) ton cargo van. Florida Administrative Code Section 215.422 F.S. and Chapter 3A-24. Responsible for performing daily inspections and servicing of vehicles such as checking water, adding fuel, oil, water and air. Inspects and ensures assigned vehicle is in full operational status and reports to Fleet Management, Vehicle Coordinator and Supervisor if any repairs are needed. Maintains cleanliness of interior and exterior of assigned vehicle. Reports to General Services office all preventative maintenance, repairs or problems with the operation of the DOHD/COJ vehicle. Completes vehicle log daily and submits monthly to the Vehicle Coordinator by the 5th day of the month. Participate in the departmental Disaster Preparedness and Recovery Plan operations including other emergency related functions. Evening and weekend assignments may be required and responsibilities at other DOHD sites as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or management such as attending meetings for information or training. Perform travel as instructed, in relation to above duties and for professional development. Computer literate to complete training and other necessary tasks online. Adheres to all policies, procedures and safety standards.

  • Must be able to complete various physical tasks with dexterity, which include pushing, pulling, lifting and climbing to perform duties, including moving equipment of varying weights of at least 50 lbs.
  • Must have experience utilizing at an intermediate level Microsoft Suite, (i.e.Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, etc).
