About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic 1 position at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) is focused on maintaining and repairing building systems to ensure a safe and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors. The role involves performing inspections, coordinating repairs, and conducting preventative maintenance on various building systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong customer service orientation and a commitment to safety.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience in building maintenance, repairs, and replacement of building systems.
  • Understanding of building systems and conducting safety inspections.
  • Understanding of contracting, procurement, and review of bids and proposals.
  • Experience in developing, monitoring, and maintaining maintenance schedules.
  • Comprehensive understanding and use of Microsoft 365.
  • Maintain Operating certification on forklift.
  • Valid, unrestricted Washington State Driver's License.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish work within deadlines.
  • Customer service and safety focus.
  • Ability to lift 25lbs unassisted and greater weights with assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to use hand and power tools and operate heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge in methods, materials, hazards, and safety practices in the building trades.
  • Ability to interpret plans, drawings, and schematic diagrams in electrical, mechanical, and structural systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of all building systems for efficiency and troubleshoot deficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance schedules for all building systems.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of project executions and building systems such as boilers and elevators.
  • Maintain all mechanical rooms in good operating condition.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance of building systems as needed or required by industry standards.
  • Conduct cost analysis on all building system repairs and/or replacements based on contractor recommendations.
  • Maintain current knowledge in safety practices.
  • Use a computer to generate reports, work orders, and emails.
  • Conduct standby emergency call duties (usually one week per month).
  • Coordinate, schedule, and develop scope of work for contractors.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing daily facilities-related activities including construction and repair of buildings and grounds work.
  • Conduct a variety of scheduled and periodic preventative maintenance inspections/tasks on all equipment and infrastructure.
  • Assist with room setups for events.
