About The Position

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of property, facility, and grounds maintenance across The Williamsburg Winery’s 300+ acre estate. This includes the hotel (Wedmore Place), restaurant (Gabriel Archer Tavern), tasting room, production warehouse, event spaces, vineyards, and all surrounding grounds. This role ensures all buildings, systems, outdoor areas, and landscaping are maintained to the highest standards to support guest experience, safety, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of maintenance, facilities, or groundskeeping experience
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
  • Experience with landscaping, lawn care, and large property/estate maintenance
  • Ability to safely operate tools, machinery, and landscaping equipment
  • Strong attention to detail with pride in maintaining high-quality, guest-ready spaces
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day maintenance operations across all winery properties and facilities
  • Manage upkeep of all physical buildings including hotel rooms, restaurant spaces, tasting room, warehouse, and event venues
  • Maintain and enhance all property grounds, including landscaping, vineyards, irrigation systems, and overall exterior aesthetics
  • Perform and oversee general maintenance and repair work, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and light carpentry
  • Ensure all guest-facing and operational areas are consistently clean, polished, safe, and well-maintained
  • Maintain outdoor spaces including mowing, trimming, watering plants/flowers, and overall landscape upkeep
  • Oversee and maintain pool and pool house areas to ensure cleanliness and functionality
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment, systems, and infrastructure
  • Supervise maintenance staff and assign daily tasks and projects across multiple facilities
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and operational needs across departments
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown as needed across the estate
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and operational procedures
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements
