About The Position

Maintenance Managers at Klosterman play a critical role in ensuring our bakery operates safely, reliably, and with consistent product quality. This position leads the Maintenance Department with a focus on equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, food safety compliance, and the development of maintenance technicians. Maintenance Managers partner closely with the Site Leader and cross‑functional bakery teams to meet daily production schedules, drive continuous improvement, and support long‑term operational performance. They help create a culture of accountability, teamwork, and problem‑solving while upholding Klosterman’s SQF, HACCP, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting, ideally within the food production industry.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team‑development abilities
  • Must be proficient with computers and demonstrate a proven track record of leading, developing, and motivating teams.
  • Ability to identify mechanical/electrical components and accurately interpret technical drawings, instructions, meters, gauges, and similar tools.

Nice To Haves

  • A technical degree, bachelor’s degree in related discipline, or completion of a Maintenance Correspondence Course is beneficial.
  • PLC knowledge considered a valuable asset.
  • Hands‑on experience with electrical systems, bakery production equipment, refrigeration units, and fuel‑burning machinery is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of the bakery’s preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure consistent, reliable performance of production equipment and facility systems.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of maintenance mechanics, ensuring tasks align with the site’s preventive maintenance system and operational priorities.
  • Provide technical support for electrical, mechanical, and control systems, and serve as backup for the Maintenance Department Leader when required.
  • Manage and enhance all mechanical, electrical, and software components that support automated production lines, ensuring systems operate efficiently and with minimal downtime.
  • Track, analyze, and act on Maintenance KPIs and preventive maintenance reports, using performance data to drive corrective measures and continuous improvement.
  • Review completed maintenance work for accuracy and compliance with internal standards, specifications, and all regulatory requirements (including OSHA, EPA, and FDA).
  • Request and maintain necessary tools, parts, and supplies to support maintenance activities and ensure availability for scheduled and unscheduled repairs.
  • Ensure all maintenance team members receive proper training on safety programs such as Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Hazardous Material Handling, and Personal Protective Equipment usage.
  • Perform physical job functions such as standing for extended periods, climbing ladders and stairs, reaching overhead, lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, and navigating throughout the facility.
  • Complete special assignments as needed and support other team members by assisting, instructing, and sharing technical knowledge as directed by leadership.
