About The Position

In the role of Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will assist the Deputy/Site/Project Leader in overseeing and managing all daily maintenance activities for the project site to ensure operational standards. Support the Deputy/Site/Project Leader in addressing maintenance challenges, providing hands-on assistance and contributing to quick, effective solutions. Help relay site goals, procedures, and updates to team members, ensuring clear and consistent communication throughout the site. Flexibly manage various responsibilities, stepping in to handle tasks as needed, and adapting to the changing needs of the site. Assist in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, working closely with the Deputy/Site/Project Leader to implement process improvements. Oversee the corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment. The Maintenance Manager leads a team of supervisors, technicians, and contractors to ensure efficient plant performance, reduce downtime, and enhance equipment longevity. Ensure the timely, accurate and cost effective delivery of maintenance services including: planned system overhauls, renewal, replacement, and on-demand corrective repair services. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by supporting team members, helping to resolve any issues, and promoting teamwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • 10 years of experience in maintenance within the water and wastewater industry, 5 of which in a supervisory or management maintenance role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of unit processes applicable to water and/or wastewater treatment facilities
  • Knowledge of pumps, motors, valves, blowers, compressors, and SCADA systems.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to prepare as-built red line drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency in general computer applications, including: a) Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) b) Data entry and management systems c) SCADA systems (desirable) d) Computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) e) knowledge of google software platform.
  • Must be able to obtain certifications as required.
  • Confined Space Entry Certification and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Training.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
  • The employee may regularly lift 10-25 pounds and may occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Preferred knowledge of a) Electrical systems relevant to water/wastewater facilities b) Mechanical systems used in treatment plants c) Instrumentation and control systems for process monitoring and automation.
  • Familiarity with water quality testing and analysis techniques.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Complex troubleshooting skills for equipment and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure, emergency response situations.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns personnel to shifts and plans daily schedules to provide preventative, predictive and preventative maintenance, repairs and installation of equipment, instrumentation and controls.
  • Coordinates schedule to ensure that maintenance resources are being utilized to achieve project objectives.
  • Prepares work orders either manually or from a CMMS system as required and prepares work related reports, procurement requisitions, charts, graphs and data submittal requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensures that consistent maintenance and quality assurance procedures are followed in all assigned areas and shifts. Ensures that uniform recordkeeping is performed facility-wide.
  • Responsible for job planning including estimates for labor and materials, reporting on performance against goals/estimates, maintaining records of maintenance execution, equipment histories and equipment parts usage, and logistical requirements
  • Maintain a well organized parts and equipment inventory and storage
  • Schedule and allocate labor to ensure work tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Document and track each work task to ensure efficiency, communicate any major variances
  • Develop and create SOP’s for routine and non-routine maintenance tasks and up-load into maintenance system (VAMS) as needed
  • Perform work tasks and duties in a cost effective manner and communicate budget
  • Provide any OEM/equipment training needs
  • Work with department management to schedule any routine maintenance if shutdown/downtime/availability is needed during normal production hours as needed
  • Track asset availability including uptime, and downtime with downtime cause
  • Perform equipment failure analysis and document findings, lead RCAs as needed
  • Actively participate in weekly Operations & Management meetings
  • Proactively manages safety and environmental issues and ensures compliance with Federal and State standards including Hazardous Waste Disposal and Air Quality Standards. Ensures that issues are identified, addressed, and elevated if necessary, in a timely manner.
  • Works with operations leadership to recommend and maintain an up-to-date plan of action to be taken in event of emergencies such as machine, equipment or power failure, or need to release dammed water to affect flood control. Execute and supervise the plan if necessary.
  • Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration, ensuring that communication flows smoothly across all team members to ensure team alignment and site goals are met.
  • Supports the Site/Project Leader in managing team performance, helping to identify areas for improvement and offering coaching as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to assist in liaising with the Deputy or Site Leader, staff, and vendors.
  • Assists the Site/Project Leader in promoting a safety-first culture and conducting regular safety checks or audits.
  • Must be able to serve as a point of contact for 24 hour emergency on-call if required by site
  • Assists the Site/Project Leader in mentoring junior team members, providing guidance and support for skill development and performance improvement.
  • Demonstrates a desire to grow into a future leadership role, with a focus on developing both maintenance and leadership skills.

  • Assign and schedule maintenance tasks to ensure efficient plant operations.
  • Manages staff performance and ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintenance procedures.

  • Implement and enforce comprehensive safety protocols, procedures, and best practices at the maintenance level.
  • Lead and Conduct regular safety training and awareness programs for all site personnel.
  • Contributes to the overall site safety performance metrics, including incident rates and near-misses, to drive improvement.
  • Conduct risk assessments for maintenance tasks.
  • Implementing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for hazardous energy control.
  • Proactively manages safety and environmental issues and ensures compliance with Federal and State standards including Hazardous Waste Disposal and Air Quality Standards and maintenance contract requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to established environmental, health, safety, operating, maintenance, and emergency response procedures.
  • Enforce compliance with OSHA, EPA, local water authority regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain records of equipment inspections, maintenance logs, and work orders using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Develop, implement, and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Monitor project maintenance performance.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and consistent results.
  • Coordinate problem resolution and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of SCADA systems, control panels, and instrumentation used in water and wastewater treatment.
  • Coordinates the proper response to equipment failures, breakdowns, and emergency maintenance issues.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with site-level customers and vendors.
  • Coordinate with vendors and manage contractors for specialized repairs or equipment servicing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve customer experience and satisfaction.
  • Identify and implement maintenance efficiencies and cost-saving initiatives to enhance site-level performance.
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime.
  • Manage overtime and other spending areas to ensure compliance to budget.
  • Create, monitor and manage inventory of parts, tools, spare parts and maintenance supplies.
  • Ensure timely procurement of replacement parts and necessary equipment.
