About The Position

Responsible for supervising and scheduling equipment maintenance and the maintenance of company grounds at all 4 Sheboygan, WI facilities. Provide leadership and guidance regarding the maintenance function and activities and support the manufacturing process by assisting in troubleshooting and making repairs to electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems. Answer calls on off-hours to support production schedules, as needed. Be able to cope with the stress of troubleshooting and making repairs during production operation. Must be able to utilize and understand manufacturer maintenance manuals and prints both domestic and foreign.

  • Bachelor degree in Polymer, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related degree preferred.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to write presentations and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Able to make effective and persuasive arguments and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Understand NFPA, OSHA, local and state building codes and regulations. Interprets manufacturers’ recommendations
  • Journeyman or masters certification/licensure in a maintenance trade.
  • State Indentured Certificate as Journeyman / Master Electrician or other Maintenance skilled trade. Associates degree in Electrical Mechanical Technology or related state approved apprenticeship. Other technical degree may be considered. Six to eight years’ experience managing in an industrial maintenance environment. Must be knowledgeable of OSHA and state codes and regulations with regard to job assignments.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds on occasion.
  • Must be able to stand, kneel, bend, and climb in order to work on equipment.
  • Must be able to use tools to perform repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for direct and/or indirect supervision of entire maintenance staff.
  • Help direct and coordinate activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
  • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Responsibility for all equipment and facilities in Sheboygan (4 total facilities) as well as for technical support for three other out of state facilities.
  • Responsible for maintenance of company grounds at all 4 facilities in Sheboygan, which includes the following, but not limited to: Monitor and maintain fire alarm and security alarm systems. Maintain all permits as required by city and state. Coordinate and assist with all local ordinance inspections. Coordinate snow removal and alternate parking.
  • Manages the cleaning services at all 4 Sheboygan facilities.
  • Provides technical support to all department heads involving acquisitions, investments, capital equipment purchases in the area of determining condition of equipment and facilities. Oversee new capital projects.
  • Work with other department managers to implement special equipment or installations to improve their working environment or operation.
  • Coordinates or provides individual technical support or training to technicians.
  • Grants and maintains apprenticeships in the maintenance department.
  • Manages maintenance, facilities and process/manufacturing engineering functions.
  • Responsible for research products and equipment to facilitate new production needs.
  • Negotiate costs and select vendors and equipment for production and capital projects.
  • Manage daily operational budgets and personnel to provide support for production activities. Develops Departmental Budget.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
