The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight and operational execution of all maintenance activities within an organization. This role ensures the safety of all physical assets, optimal reliability, efficiency, including machinery, equipment, and facilities. The Maintenance Manager leads the maintenance team, develops and implements maintenance strategies, manages budgets, and ensures adherence to regulatory and safety standards.

  • Partner with the EHS team to ensure the plant is compliant with all state, federal, and local regulations regarding safety, including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Serve as a leading advocate for safety initiatives within the plant, cultivating a mindset that prioritizes safety throughout the organization’s culture.
  • Conduct safety inspections of work practices and work areas.
  • Facilitate training to identify, prevent, and correct unsafe conditions and practices.
  • Support and facilitate the continued development of the Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) databases.
  • Lead critical plant safety programs such as LOTO.
  • Foster a culture committed to ongoing continuous improvement across the Maintenance team by participating in various projects, such as 5S events and the application of lean principles.
  • Establish explicit objectives, supply necessary resources, and motivate the production team to welcome and drive change.
  • Identify and develop talent within the maintenance team, including performance management and succession planning.
  • Develop and maintain the plant’s maintenance workflow process, including work identification, planning, scheduling, execution, and documentation.
  • Track, analyze, and improve maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage daily maintenance operations through direct reports such as Planners, Schedulers, and Supervisors.
  • Participate in the development, submission, and approval of the annual capital plan.
  • Manage outage planning, prioritization, and execution process.
  • Develop and maintain the plant’s Maintenance budget and forecast.
  • Utilize a strong computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to streamline processes.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial) or maintenance discipline with 2+ years experience in a safety sensitive environment, or a H.S. Diploma coupled with 5+ years experience in a safety sensitive environment.
  • 2+ years of people leadership and team building experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and advanced analytical thinking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of CMMS/Inventory Management software.
  • Intermediate proficiency in G suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, P&IDs and engineering drawings.
  • Direct management of maintenance team in high volume manufacturing operation.
  • Experience with an inventory management system (CMMS), Maximo experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead/influence/manage people.
