About The Position

The Manager, Maintenance Planning & Scheduling is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing all corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing assets. This role partners closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, Inventory, and Operations Support teams to align maintenance execution with production needs while maximizing equipment reliability and labor effectiveness. This position owns the maintenance planning and scheduling process and serves as the CMMS (Megamation) subject matter expert, ensuring accurate data, effective PM programs, and meaningful reporting to support decision-making and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of CMMS experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years managing or leading hourly maintenance staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, and work execution.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems, inventory management, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of parts room procedures, maintenance planning best practices, and reliability concepts.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Creative thinker with a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate all planned and unplanned maintenance activities in collaboration with production planning and operations to minimize downtime and support manufacturing goals.
  • Own the CMMS (Megamation) system, including PM setup, work order planning, backlog management, data accuracy, and reporting.
  • Maintain and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs, ensuring a monthly PM completion target of 100%.
  • Analyze equipment history, failure trends, and maintenance data to improve reliability, optimize labor utilization, and reduce repeat failures.
  • Maintain enterprise-wide preventive maintenance best practices and apply universal maintenance standards to develop realistic task durations and expectations.
  • Identify, label, and document all new equipment in accordance with company standards and maintain accurate asset records.
  • Use KPIs and maintenance metrics to provide fact-based performance feedback to Maintenance leadership.
  • Review PM effectiveness and recommend changes to improve equipment uptime and maintenance efficiency.
  • Provide accurate labor, parts, and service estimates for repairs, improvements, and planned work.
  • Administer maintenance shift scheduling and manage work order backlog, including planning and coordination of scheduled downtime activities.
  • Ensure required parts and materials are available by working closely with the Parts Room and Inventory teams.
  • Manage the Parts Room staff and support inventory control best practices.
  • Coordinate inspections, calibrations, validations, preventive maintenance, and services with outside contractors.
  • Interface with Engineering, Operations Support, local management, and other corporate departments on special projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and CIR development.
  • Provide input and recommendations to management to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Hire, train, develop, and coach supervisors and maintenance personnel to ensure the team effectively supports manufacturing objectives in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • Serve as backup to the Maintenance Manager during absences, assuming responsibilities as needed.
  • Oversee 3rd party relationships regarding the repair and maintenance of company forklifts.
