About The Position

PURPOSE Responsible for managing all aspects of the Maintenance Department. This includes managing the upkeep of all manufacturing assets, managing maintenance budget and resources and assisting in the design and installation of new plant equipment. In addition, this position is responsible for managing multiple shifts of Maintenance Supervisors and mechanics. Gathers bids to outsource necessary work. Prioritizes repair/improvement issues and opportunities with approval from Operations Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains manufacturing assets and facility, parts inventory, monitoring purchase orders, invoice approvals, and manages the department budget.Requisitions and issues tools, equipment, and supplies that are plant equipment related. Requisitions work from outside services or vendors for projects that require specific expertise or capabilities. Inspects work areas and production schedules to determine type of work, materials, equipment and labor requirements for completion of “equipment” “project”. Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Operates equipment such as forklifts, crane, bulldozers and graders, and trains workers in equipment operation. Performs activities of workers supervised.Reviews installation equipment orders or schedules to ascertain resources necessary to complete project on time. Plans and implements equipment and facility design upgrades and maintenance. Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises employees in the maintenance department, including Leads, Supervisors, maintenance mechanics for all shifts of the location when working onsite equipment project. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; Plans for additional resources; Sets goals and objectives; Organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; Develops realistic action plans.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Web/internet research on equipment specs and email outlook.
  • Must complete BFS safety training.
  • 100% required traveling

  • Journeymen, HVAC and electrical skills helpful, but not required.
