About The Position

Darling Ingredients is a global company that repurposes and recycles materials from the animal agriculture and food industries, transforming them into essential ingredients for various uses, including animal feed, crop fertilization, and fuel. The company operates over 260 facilities in more than 15 countries, aiming to reduce waste and promote sustainability within industries, contributing to a more circular economy. The Maintenance Lead position is responsible for both performing and supervising plant maintenance activities related to rendering process equipment. This includes ensuring that all equipment and buildings are kept sanitary and in good repair. The Maintenance Lead reports directly to the Plant Manager.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience in supervisory position / overseeing plant personnel in an industrial setting or in combination.
Proficient in basic welding and fabrication skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in maintenance with industrial equipment and/or combination of vocational training.

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or GED.
Knowledge of industrial electrical, mechanical, and welding procedures.
Prior rendering experience preferred.
Advanced welding experience/skills preferred.
Vocational school training preferred.
Good communication skills both oral and written.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Team player; works well with others.
Detail oriented; well organized.
Good math skills.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoots and repairs process machinery and hydraulic equipment.
Changes electrical breakers and electrical starters; operates voltage, amp, and ohm meters.
Follows preventative maintenance schedule on all plant equipment.
Provides direction and leadership for the maintenance crew and daily activities and duties.
Trains Level 1 and Level 2 Maintenance personnel.
Responsible for ensuring all Company safety procedures and safe operating standards are followed by plant personnel, in accordance with OSHA.
Responsible for cleanliness of equipment and regularly scheduled safety inspections.
Manage daily inventory of supplies and parts, ensuring replacements are ordered in a timely fashion.
Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
All other duties as assigned.
