Summary Description: Reporting to the Maintenance Department Manager, the Maintenance Lead is responsible to provide leadership and direction to the maintenance crew in the areas of machine repairs, preventative maintenance, and building maintenance tasks that are mechanical/electrical in nature. The Maintenance Lead is responsible for documenting all such work, both for internal company records, and to meet legal requirements in the manufacturing of all products including alcohol, in accordance with Refresco’s standard operating procedures and policies.

Requirements

  • Thorough technical knowledge in the field of industrial maintenance, including relevant regulations, standards and codes.
  • Understanding of maintenance practices.
  • Objective judgment and fact-based decision-making approach.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects, and support initiatives with technical expertise.
  • Proficient in SAP.
  • Multi-Tasking Ability: Skilled at managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and efficiency.
  • Proactive and Self-Motivated Problem Solver: Takes initiative to identify and resolve issues independently, making decisive choices and managing tasks effectively without supervision.

  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing production environments and requirements.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3-5 years production/line machine maintenance experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrician or Millwright (Dual Ticket – Electrician/Millwright an asset).
  • Line maintenance within a food and beverage production environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas (including but not limited to hairnets/beard nets, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe boots and seatbelts while operating forklifts)
  • Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements.
  • Follows department plans and performs complex corrective and preventative maintenance requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical theories and principles.
  • Assist in ensuring all upgrades for equipment are compliant with Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Minimize down time ensuring replacement/spare parts are available through proper preventative maintenance management by adhering to manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Assist in scheduling maintenance personnel to cover production line maintenance needs.
  • Contributes to measurable improvements in scheduled, unscheduled and break down maintenance related down time and the costs associated with these events to contribute to CPC (cost per case) goals for each plant and shares best practices across and within the enterprise.
  • Review daily preventative maintenance (PM) sheets and assist in ensuring work is being completed.
  • Review any changes made to production line and make necessary changes to work orders.
  • Coordinate and address equipment failure in a timely manner, in order to minimize the downtime.
  • Support Electricians and Mechanics with machine issues on the production floor.
  • Assist in training of Electricians/Mechanics on production equipment and maintain Lockout/Tag out Program.
  • Coordinate parts requirement with Parts Coordinator.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Projects and support initiatives with technical expertise.
  • Initiate the escalation process when downtime exceeds plant targets and issue is unresolved.
