Opportunity Overview: Maintenance Laborer - Contract 6 months to possible permanent hire. You will report onsite to our facility in Manning, SC. You will report to the Sr. Manufacturing Supervisor. You will work the day shift 40 hours per week. This job involves performing several basic, general maintenance tasks in an industrial environment, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and landscaping. Tool proficiency and skills to keep buildings in good condition. You will escalate to call in a specialist for complex jobs. Responsibilities include responding to requests, assembling furniture, fixing drywall, cleaning, painting and ensuring safety, with a focus on keeping facilities functional and presentable, all while working on special projects. Technical skills, communication, organization, and detail, help you diagnose issues, perform repairs, coordinate with others, and ensure in maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Forklift experience 1 year or able to obtain a forklift certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Trade certifications in Electrical or Plumbing.- a broad knowledge of different repair trades.
  • Safety training -OSHA.
  • Tool Proficiency: Safe and effective use of hand and power tools.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose issues and find practical solutions. The core skill of diagnosing why something isn't working and figuring out the best way to fix it.
  • Customer Service: Professional communication and customer interaction.
  • Physical labor, including lifting, climbing ladders and working in various conditions.
  • Knowledge: Basic knowledge and understanding of repairs, installations, and upkeep, covering areas like basic electrical, plumbing, painting while considering building codes and safety.
  • Communication: Clearly conveying issues, instructions, and progress to clients, supervisors, or team members through verbal, written, and non-verbal cues, and collaborating effectively with contractors.
  • Computer Skills: Basic

Responsibilities

  • General Repairs: Fix leaky faucets, patching drywall, repairing doors/windows, assembling furniture.
  • Plumbing & Electrical: Performing minor repairs (e.g., faulty light fixtures, running toilets) and assisting licensed tradespeople.
  • Painting & Finishing: Painting interiors/exteriors, filling holes, sanding and staining.
  • Carpentry: Install shelves, cabinets, and performing basic construction.
  • Inspections & Reporting: Identifying issues, conducting walk-throughs, and reporting needs for major repairs. Create and update a work order log and project task list.
  • Organization: Prioritize general tasks, urgent repairs, and completing work to minimize downtime to meet deadlines.
  • Detail: Noticing small issues that could become bigger problems, ensuring tasks are done correctly and thoroughly, and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Maintain tools, equipment, and building systems to prevent breakdowns.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow strict safety protocols and occupational health regulations to ensure a secure work environment.
