About The Position

The Maintenance Journeyman at CEMEX is responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance activities and assisting other mechanics with repairs to mobile equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring that equipment is maintained in good running order to optimize production. The position requires daily interaction with operations staff and adherence to safety standards.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to carry out simple and complex oral and written instructions
• Good mathematical skills, including basic math, fractions and conversions
• Ability to read and understand English sufficiently to read technical information
• Ability to operate equipment in reverse using mirrors
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and/or moving of 50 pounds maximum
• Ability to communicate well with supervisors and co-workers
• High level of attentiveness and physical coordination

Responsibilities

• Assists mechanic and skilled personnel
• Performing mechanical work and repairs on mobile equipment
• Procuring, and moving parts, material, equipment and necessary tools
• Operating hoist(s) during repairs
• Operate other mechanical equipment to load truck
• Operate powered tools to perform mechanical work and repairs
• Operate welding equipment to perform basic welding work
• Use oxy-acetylene torch equipment to perform light or medium cutting jobs
• Shoveling and clean-ups
• Storage and transport of used and/or damaged equipment to others areas
• Perform safety walk around inspection before shift
• Replace or assist other workers as needed or directed
• Maintain a good housekeeping of the equipment
• Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
• Meet or exceed company safety standards
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
