About The Position

The Maintenance Journeyman HVAC Technician is responsible for performing skilled installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across Hoskinson Contracting facilities and project sites. This role ensures mechanical systems are safe, efficient, and aligned with operational standards. The technician will troubleshoot complex HVAC issues, perform routine inspections, and support the maintenance team to ensure uninterrupted facility operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited HVAC technical or apprenticeship program required.
  • Valid Wyoming Journeyman HVAC License required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • 3–5 years of experience as an HVAC Technician or Journeyman in commercial, industrial, or construction environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting a wide range of HVAC systems and controls.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of HVAC codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic meters, gauges, and HVAC testing equipment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal) preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Familiarity with energy management systems, mechanical diagnostics, and preventative maintenance programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including furnaces, condensers, packaged units, boilers, chillers, VRF systems, exhaust systems, and related components.
  • Perform diagnostics on mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, filter changes, safety checks, and system performance evaluations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Document work performed, parts used, and system conditions in maintenance logs or digital systems.
  • Coordinate and communicate with supervisors, vendors, contractors, and internal departments regarding repairs and service schedules.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests, including after-hours calls as assigned.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
  • Assist in training apprentices or junior technicians when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
