The Maintenance internship position is involved in maintenance activities at Michael Foods, Inc. This position should also build capability and provide a pipeline of future talent for Michael Foods.
Responsibilities
Be part of the plant maintenance team; assist with maintenance plan execution and Maintenance equipment uptime improvements efforts.
Adherence to Safety and Environment policy.
Compliance to Quality and Food Safety requirements.
Tracking, Monitoring and Drive of Key Process Indicators (KPI's) results such as OEE, Maintenance PM Compliance & Mechanical Downtime.
Exposure to Key Leadership Competency at workplace including ensuring accountability, managing complexity, ambiguity & conflict, business insights & financial acumen, and effective collaboration & communication.
Diagnose and repair mechanical power transmission equipment including gear boxes, mechanical drives, variable speed applications, and servo motors.
Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems including cylinders, valves, manifolds, vacuum systems, air filtration and lubrication devices.
Exposure to basic electrical AC/DC troubleshooting.
Perform welding, sanitary welding, pipe fitting, soldering, rigging application and use of mechanical tools, hand tools, and power tools.
Read and decipher mechanical drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams.
Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
Adhere to Quality work practices, follow all GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.
Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Current or recent enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree related to mechanical, industrial, chemical or electrical engineering field.
Basic understanding of Root cause analysis process and continuous improvement.
Excellent verbal and oral communication skills and ability to influence others.
Eager to learn and challenge yourself; self-directed, detail oriented, reliable, and strong initiative.
Strong statistical skills including statistical process control (SPC), capability analysis, linear regressions, categorical data analysis and design of experiment (DOE).
Proficient in Microsoft Office; CMMS experience is a plus.
