About The Position

Nucor Cold Finish Nebraska is seeking a motivated and dependable Maintenance Intern to join our team. This internship offers hands-on experience in general maintenance operations and provides exposure to a variety of tasks that support facility safety, efficiency, and upkeep. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, works well with others, and is committed to maintaining a safe and positive work environment. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in trade school or college program (preferred: industrial technology, engineering, construction, Electro-Mechanical or related field).
• Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in maintenance or skilled trades.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.

Nice To Haves

• Graduating in May 2027.
• Previous internship or work experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and industrial safety standards, particularly in manufacturing or facility maintenance environments.
• Proficiency in documenting maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment performance data.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment commonly used in industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance procedures and equipment safety protocols.
• Conduct routine inspections and audits of machinery, tools, and facility systems to identify potential safety or operational issues.
• Participate in troubleshooting and investigations of equipment malfunctions or breakdowns, contributing to root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
• Support training initiatives related to equipment handling, preventive maintenance, and workplace safety.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Safety, Engineering, and Production—to promote a safe and efficient working environment.
• Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by the Maintenance team.
