About The Position

Maintenance Technicians perform work in assigned areas such as, but not limited to, electrical and instrumentation. An employee in this position may progress as training and abilities increase. Technicians are expected to perform the following duties with increasing levels of proficiency: Instrument Technician:  Handles instrumentation work as assigned; repairs, troubleshoots, upgrades, and calibrates various equipment and devices used by Company as assigned Performs preventative maintenance on equipment, systems, piping, etc.; ensures availability of equipment; responds to operational needs as assigned; follows all maintenance procedures; updates procedures as applicable  Troubleshoots, inspects and repairs equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications; stays current on standards for mechanical equipment used Works with reliability engineering and other departments as necessary Requests material from warehouse for assigned work following Company procedures; performs or assists in performing inspections of delivered materials, parts and equipment when necessary Performs and assists in installation, modification and inspection work when applicable Acts as team leader to other technicians as required, assists team members as appropriate Coordinates and schedules repairs and projects with operations, planning and contractor personnel Assists with maintenance needs during pre-commissioning, commissioning, construction, and turn-arounds as directed Keeps equipment and tools organized and in good working condition; keeps work area clean Tracks maintenance activities utilizing computerized maintenance system; assists in establishing and maintaining filing system Maintains maintenance documents including, but not limited to, equipment numbers, maintenance performed and equipment condition; updates document control as required Communicates spare part needs; assists in establishing inventory levels necessary for equipment and assets in assigned area/s; provides specifications to inventory control personnel as requested Trains regularly on all Federal, state and local environmental regulations, requirements and guidelines including, but not limited to, RCRA requirements; follows and adheres to all guidelines, regulations, and requirements Assumes delegated responsibilities of Maintenance Foreman in his or her absence as requested Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EHSS principles and values; champions safety at all times; participates in and/or leads safety teams or projects as appropriate Performs other duties assigned by management that generally fall within the expected scope of this position  Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.  This description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions. Requirements

  • Experience in plant operations, especially in petrochemical environment preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in instrumentation in a petrochemical or similar industrial facility
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow written job instructions and directions
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, voltage, current, and power levels; experience working with single three phase electrical systems, power distribution systems, conduit and raceway installations
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow manuals and other regulatory documents as applicable
  • Ability to read and understand safety procedures, including OSHA standards and regulations
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to work with fractions and perform various mathematical conversions commonly used in petrochemical industry
  • Understanding of general business concepts
  • Must be able to work varying and/or rotating shifts
  • Experience working with Federal, state and local environmental regulations including RCRA
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use database systems and other programs and applications used by this position and at Company
  • Fluent in English language including reading, writing and speaking; ability to read and write at a minimum of high school level; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization

Nice To Haves

  • State license for instrumentation preferred
  • Technology degree helpful

Responsibilities
