About the position

The position is aimed at maintaining and ensuring the operational functionality of the District's facilities, thereby preventing any disruptions to the educational program. The incumbent will report to the Maintenance Supervisor - Plumbing/HVAC and will be responsible for a variety of maintenance and repair tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Maintenance Supervisor - Plumbing/HVAC to receive daily assignments.
  • Respond to work requests in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks in accordance with appropriate standards and procedures.
  • Assist with general plumbing, component repair and replacement, pipe fitting, machine repair, and remodeling bathrooms.
  • Repair and replace hot water tanks, sprinkler systems, roof drains, sewer traps, etc.
  • Replace and repair defective pumps, fans, capacitors, and leaking lines.
  • Repair and maintain boilers and air conditioning equipment.
  • Assist with the development and execution of a preventative maintenance program.
  • Follow the District's system for the receipt and issuance of parts and supplies, maintaining recordkeeping and inventories.
  • Attend training sessions, meetings, and classes for professional development.
  • Accomplish assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Operate and care for equipment used in daily work assignments.
  • Maintain accurate and complete time sheets.
  • Assist other maintenance areas with work requests as assigned.
  • Occasionally operate medium and heavy equipment as part of daily work.
  • Assist with snow removal as necessary, including operating snow plows and tractors.
  • Demonstrate a professional image through appearance, language, and work ethic.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a course of study in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning from a high school, trade, or technical school.
  • Successful completion of a Journeyman HVAC Program and a minimum of six years experience in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operation setting.
  • EPA Refrigerant Certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Experience and training in plumbing, pumps, boiler repair, food service equipment repair, etc.
  • Must have a valid Kansas driver license and possess a good driving record.
