About The Position

The Maintenance III - Groundskeeper and Roofing Specialist is responsible for maintaining the District's facilities, grounds, and roofs to ensure they are operational and do not disrupt the education program. This role involves a variety of tasks related to grounds maintenance and roofing, requiring a combination of skills and experience in both areas.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Registered Roof Observer or minimum of six years experience as a roofer.
  • Experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, and heavy equipment operation.
  • Knowledge in maintenance and care of roofs and landscaping practices.
  • Ability to drive and operate medium to large trucks and various equipment.
  • Ability to maintain vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to read and apply technical information.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
  • Dependability and ability to work well with others.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Maintenance Supervisor - Roads and Grounds to receive daily assignments.
  • Perform grounds maintenance activities as assigned or by following an established work schedule.
  • Respond to work requests in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks in accordance with appropriate standards and procedures.
  • Assist in the installation, alteration, removal, replacement, maintenance, and repair of roofing systems and their components.
  • Maintain, repair, install, replace, inspect, and perform necessary actions to keep District roofs in good condition.
  • Clean roofs of water, snow, or debris to prevent leaks and hazards.
  • Correct problems using appropriate materials to repair roofing issues.
  • Repair flashing, drip strips, roofing vents, and ridge caps.
  • Assemble, install, and inspect gutters and downspouts.
  • Perform basic fabrications and repairs to roofing products.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a roof inspection program.
  • Assist in determining materials required for work performance.
  • Assist with various work assignments including machining, welding, and playground maintenance.
  • Perform manual digging and labor using hand tools.
  • Conduct annual roof inspections at District schools and buildings.
  • Maintain files for each District roof including inspections and warranty information.
  • Assist with the development and execution of a preventative maintenance program.
  • Follow the District's system for parts and supplies management.
  • Ensure all assigned vehicles and equipment are accounted for and used correctly.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings for professional development.
  • Operate and care for equipment used in daily work assignments.
  • Maintain accurate and complete time sheets.
  • Assist other maintenance areas with work requests as assigned.
  • Occasionally operate medium and heavy equipment.
  • Assist with snow removal as necessary.
  • Demonstrate a professional image through appearance and work ethic.
  • Maintain a good attendance record for continuity of operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
