About The Position

The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and skilled repairs on complex electrical and mechanical production equipment and systems. This role does not have direct reports and requires full-time work at the plant. The position emphasizes adherence to safety policies, OSHA regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • 3 years of related experience within a food processing, bottling, liquid filling/blending, and/or consumer goods manufacturing/packing environment.
  • 1-3 years’ experience troubleshooting and repairing complex industrial mechanical equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems, read schematics, establish priorities, and work under deadline pressures.
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot PLCs is a plus.
  • Experience with drill press, grinders, hand power tools, forklift, and a variety of hand tools.
  • Knowledge and skills in plumbing and basic electricity strongly preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new job-related software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy required.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be respectful and work well with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duty on any shift and work overtime on short notice.
  • Ability to work in high temperatures, at heights, and exposure to strong smells, dust, gases, fumes, and chemicals.
  • Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school certification in a related field such as Industrial Electronics/Electricians Certification preferred.
  • Related courses through technical or trade schools, including in-house training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Mizkan America safety policies, OSHA regulations, GMP, and SOP.
  • Comprehensive knowledge with troubleshooting, assembling, installing, testing, maintaining, and making improvements to mechanical systems.
  • Follow standard procedures to monitor equipment for performance, safety, and effectiveness.
  • Weld and fabricate parts as needed, including sanitary welding of piping and tankage.
  • Understand protocols of working safely with electricity and other energy sources with industrial equipment.
  • Manage changeovers and repairs of the production lines.
  • Maintain all equipment, tools, supplies in stock, inventory, and logs.
  • Work closely with production personnel or service technicians on equipment repairs.
  • Read and interpret schematics, charts, service manuals, and parts diagrams.
  • Assist outside contractors on on-site projects as required.
  • Follow all safety rules, including LOTO, and keep area clean and orderly.
  • Responsible for food product quality and safety.
