About The Position

Job Summary: The Engineer/HVAC Technician is responsible for the entire physical plant including all boilers, pressure vessels, and associated equipment; the fire alarm system, HVAC equipment, the Energy Management System, refrigeration, mechanical and plumbing systems, medical gases, and the electrical and emergency power systems. The position will need flexibility in assisting Maintenance II duties, carpentry, grounds, and although the position is primarily days, there may be a weekend schedule, holidays, and after hours to accommodate the hospital 24 hours. Availability for on-call is required. Essential Duties: Have an in-depth knowledge, and is able to maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair the following systems: Boilers and associated equipment Electrical normal and emergency power systems Fire Alarm systems HVAC Equipment Energy management system Refrigeration equipment Mechanical plumbing systems Medical gas systems Also must be able to perform the following functions: Assist Maintenance II staff as needed Carpentry and paint functions Grounds maintenance functions Complies with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • 4th Class Engineer License or better
  • Must have working knowledge of all equipment and structural related parts of the hospital
  • Ability to interact well with other employees and be able to understand and carry out instructions given by supervisor
  • Excellent interpersonal (verbal and written communication) and customer service skills
  • Must be able to perform well in stressful, noisy situations
  • Maintain a high degree of responsibility, accountability, and flexibility.
  • Must maintain MARS training.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair mechanical plumbing systems
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair medical gas systems
  • Assist Maintenance II staff as needed
  • Perform carpentry and paint functions
  • Perform grounds maintenance functions
  • Complies with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
