About The Position

The Maintenance Generalist is responsible for performing skilled maintenance work to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment and facility systems while maintaining compliance with safety, food quality, and regulatory standards. The Maintenance Generalist works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and plays a key role in minimizing downtime and supporting continuous operations. Compensation for this position is determined based on relevant experience, technical skill level, and education, and will be evaluated during the interview and offer process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Industrial maintenance experience preferred; food manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals
  • Proficient with hand tools, welding equipment, and multimeters
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and system navigation (SAP, email, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and work on feet for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy environments and around moving equipment
  • Ability to work at heights, on ladders, or platforms when required
  • Exposure to pressurized systems and sanitation chemicals
  • Required PPE includes hearing protection, slip-resistant footwear, hard hat, safety glasses, and cut-resistant gloves
  • Additional task-specific PPE may be required (e.g., welding helmet, face shield, respiratory protection)

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and complete timely repairs to support production operations
  • Document maintenance activities and completed work orders using SAP
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications as directed
  • Utilize hand and power tools, welding equipment, and basic diagnostic devices
  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and hot work requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area
  • Communicate maintenance issues and status updates with production, sanitation, and QA teams
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and support corrective or long-term solutions
  • Assist other maintenance team members with larger repairs or special projects as needed
