About The Position

The Maintenance Generalist is a dual-role position responsible for the daily operation, laboratory testing, and mechanical maintenance of wastewater and offal treatment systems. This role ensures the facility remains in constant compliance with ADEM/EPA requirements while performing preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on all associated equipment. The candidate that best fits this role will be a self-starter, willing to work within a team setting and with third party vendors. This job is a 40 hour per week full time job with required overtime during the weekends or as needed for maintenance to equipment during non-production hours. Willingness to communicate effectively with team leaders and follow instructions.

Requirements

  • Must possess at least 1 year of industrial maintenance experience within the last 12 months or education (i.e. possess an industrial maintenance diploma or currently enrolled in a technical school) in lieu of experience.
  • The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space entry protocols, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Medical approval for Air Purifying Respirators (APRs) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Wastewater Operations & Compliance: System Monitoring : Operate and regulate the flow of wastewater systems, including physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes.
  • Lab Testing: Conduct process control sampling and laboratory analysis (D.O. levels, chemical draw-downs, etc.); accurately record and file lab data to maintain system stability and obtain required results.
  • Chemical Management : Monitor and fill chemical tanks; adjust dosages based on test results to achieve required effluent standards.
  • Reporting : Complete all computerized reports and paperwork required for state and federal regulatory compliance.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Mechanical/Electrical Repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical malfunctions and basic electrical breakdowns. This includes the ability to perform diagnosis and repairs without direct supervision.
  • Preventative Maintenance : Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on pumps, blowers, aerators, and other company assets to prevent downtime.
  • System Controls : Manage equipment start-up and shutdown procedures independently before and after production cycles.
  • General Support: Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision. Assist other mechanics as needed and maintain facility cleanliness and grounds keeping.
