The Maintenance Foreman leads the team that keeps every part of the park running—facilities, grounds, systems, and infrastructure that support animal care, staff operations, and guest experience. In this role, you’ll take ownership of projects, guide the team, and make sure work is done safely, efficiently, and to standard. Lead with Purpose As a Maintenance Foreman, you’ll lead the team responsible for keeping our facilities, grounds, and systems safe, functional, and ready for guests every day. Your leadership directly supports animal care, staff operations, and the overall guest experience. Maintain and Improve Our Park You’ll help care for and improve the spaces that support animals, staff, and guests. From routine upkeep to larger improvement projects, your work keeps Tanganyika running safely and efficiently. Support the Mission Behind the Scenes Much of this work happens behind the scenes, but it makes a visible difference. By keeping buildings and systems reliable, you help ensure guests can focus on learning, connection, and conservation. Grow People and the Work Through clear expectations, coaching, and hands-on leadership, you’ll help your team build skills and confidence. You’ll also help improve how work gets done, contributing to a strong, practical, team-focused culture.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of maintenance experience, including leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong working knowledge of general maintenance (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, etc.)
  • Proven ability to lead a team and hold others accountable
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Comfortable using work order systems, schedules, and basic tech
  • Ability to see and plan for big picture projects

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with animal enclosures ideal, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong Leadership, Management, and Accountability (LMA) to your team, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and growth.
  • Large portion of position will be in office but has the ability to go onsite to support team as needed and work on projects
  • Oversee and assist with preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance
  • Assign and monitor work orders, inspections, and projects
  • Ensure facilities, buildings and equipment meet safety and operational standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues efficiently
  • Schedule staff and coordinate coverage for daily operations and special projects
  • Track maintenance needs, supplies, and inventory
  • Communicate clearly with leadership and other departments regarding timelines and priorities
  • Assist with vendor coordination and oversight when needed
  • Promote and enforce safety procedures and best practices
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements
  • Standardize processes and support continuous improvement
