About The Position

The Maintenance Foreman for Machinery at Marathon Petroleum Company is responsible for supervising and leading a maintenance work group, typically composed of union-represented crafts. This role focuses on ensuring the safe and efficient execution of maintenance tasks in compliance with environmental standards. The foreman will oversee training, scheduling, and productivity while promoting a safe working environment and adhering to company policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial machinery maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, procedures, and schematics to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery and perform all tasks in the field.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC Card.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Maintenance experience in refinery and/or petrochemical facility is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic principles required to repair centrifugal pumps and reciprocating and centrifugal compressors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical machinery within refinery to minimize downtime, maximize reliability, and ensure compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise craft work group to ensure maintenance work is efficiently executed without incident in an environmentally compliant manner.
  • Accountable for fair and uniform application of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure assigned craft personnel are adequately trained for their job assignment.
  • Identify training needs and participate in development of training programs for craft skill pool.
  • Maintain visible and active field presence to promote safe working environment and ensure adherence to safe work practices.
  • Assist in setting schedules and monitor progress to ensure productivity, work quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Ensure team understands work scope and performance expectations.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and ensure work orders are satisfactorily completed and properly closed out.
  • Promote proactive reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) focus.
  • Communicate daily activities related to manpower, accomplishments, and problem areas to management.
  • Participate in audits and near-miss/incident investigations and follow-up on safety issues until closure.
  • Coordinate with planning and scheduling to ensure appropriateness of job packages and ensure materials used comply with current engineering standards.
  • Identify and resolve delays that would prevent schedule attainment.
  • Participate in maintenance cost control including challenging need for discretionary work.
  • Collaborate with other foremen, planning & scheduling, and reliability teams to develop repair strategies and maintain reliability of refinery plant mechanical equipment.
