About The Position

Under general supervision, operate various equipment and maintain AISD athletic fields in a condition of playing excellence

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED, preferred
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s license
  • General knowledge of landscape maintenance
  • General knowledge of turf culture care
  • Ability to understand detailed written or oral instructions
  • General knowledge of the Maintenance Department’s organization and operation
  • Ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision
  • Organizational, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
  • Frequent walking, climbing stairs, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 40 pounds of force frequently to repair and/or move equipment and objects
  • Frequent changes in tasks
  • maintain emotional control under stress
  • Regular attendance is an essential function

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience of lawn maintenance or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide cultural care of athletic turf through routine scheduled mowing.
  • Assist work crews, as assigned, with field maintenance, repair and preparations.
  • Routinely inspect the condition of the turf both before and after mowing to identify poor turf heath.
  • Maintain inventory for assigned equipment and supplies.
  • Service mower engines and mower hydraulic/mechanical parts and accessories.
  • Follow routine mowing and maintenance procedures for athletic fields to maintain a high standard of safety, playability, and cleanliness.
  • Transport necessary equipment to various job sites.
  • Perform work order record keeping and other documentation.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
  • Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
