About The Position

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Maintenance Equipment Operator for the Ludeman Developmental Center located in Park Forest, Illinois to transport individuals to and from scheduled appointments such as hospitals, doctor visits and court. Operates vehicles such as automotive equipment, vans, trucks, tractors, and snow removal equipment. Schedules and maintains vehicles in good working condition. Responds to special requests to pick up and deliver items on campus such as facility laundry, lab specimens and supplies, including handling of items. Assists in the maintenance and minor repair or equipment. Travels in performance of job duties.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  • Requires one (1) year's experience in performing a variety of semiskilled mechanical and manual tasks in the maintenance and operation of automotive or related maintenance equipment.
  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires a valid class B Commercial driver’s license, with a passenger endorsement (CDL-P).
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

  • Assists in the maintenance and minor repair or equipment.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope or the duties enumerated above.
